About Hooch - FOSTER TO ADOPT
- Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
- Adoption Fee: 300
- Species: Dog
- Current Size: 60 Pounds
- Current Age: 3 Years 5 Months (best estimate)
This incredibly affectionate boy went from abandoned by his "family" to starve to death, rescued by The Karens, and then making his way to one of our foster's homes.
He is now THRIVING. Hooch has gained the necessary weight and has started his heartworm prep. He will receive his first injection on January 2nd.
While his foster family adores him, they are unable to take in more fosters as long as he stays. So we're hoping that his forever home would be interested in a foster to adopt situation. What does that mean? Basically, we will continue covering medical bills for his heartworm treatment and then neuter while he remains a "foster" in his hopeful furever home.
Why is this best case scenario?
- Our foster is able to take in and help more dogs (we are seeing incredibly high requests as is every shelter and rescue in the area)
- Hooch will begin bonding with his forever people even sooner
- His forever family will get to start loving him even sooner :)
If you're interested in adopting Hooch, please continue reading to see if your home sounds like it might be the perfect fit!
Playful dog sibling or plan to socialize (he loves playing with other dogs)
No small kids as he has no clue how big he is and will knock them over unintentionally (and steal their food intentionally )
No kitties for this fella!
Patience - he's still learning that food stealing is a no-no
Love a good sloppy dog kiss - this boy is full of them!
Looking for medium energy
3ish years old
Want a cuddly, affectionate boy who believes your lap is his personal napping place
Has the ability to take him in for heartworm treatment / neuter to our vet in Ann Arbor
Will not let his past determine his future - though it is sad how he came to us, Hooch is a large dog who is still learning. Boundaries and structure are his friend!
Hooch is non destructive (ie not a chewer or defluffer), and crate and potty trained, though we think he'd do fine not being crated when alone. He does not resource guard with people or other dogs.
Hooch will make an amazing companion for the right people. He is very strong and still working on leash manners, so please take that into consideration as well.
