Libby is a sweet little beagle (about 35 lbs) with a big personality. She is 5 years old, spayed, and fully vetted. She is well house-trained, likes her doggie-bed, and was originally crate trained.

Libby is living with a loving family that has cared for her most of her life.  However, Libby started life as a scrappy junkyard dog that was the runt of the litter, and she already had a set of dominance behaviors and an obsession with food when she joined the family.  This wasn't a problem for her new mom and dad... until they started having kids.  Now, with two toddlers and a pair of twins on the way, a small house, and long work hours, it's become too difficult to manage Libby's quirks and give her the attention and exercise that she needs.

Libby's food obsession is not a good match for toddlers.  She would be fine with older kids and adults, but even so, be ready for a staredown while you're eating.

Libby is not getting any walks now, and she longs for a family who will take her out on a leash regularly.  She does pull on the leash, but it is manageable given her size, and would improve with training. She enjoys the backyard, but has strong prey instincts and will dig under a fence to follow her nose. Chicken wire and spikes under the fence keep her contained in her current backyard.

Libby needs a home without other dogs or cats, and would benefit from professional training.  For backyard excursions, she requires a physical fence (not electric, not a tie-up) with reinforcements against digging.
